Dacia Jogger 7-seater MPV debuts at IAA 2021

Renault's Romanian budget brand for Europe, Dacia, has unveiled its newest offering as the Dacia Jogger MPV. The Dacia Jogger sits above the Sandero hatchback in the brand's line-up and is effectively a replacement for the Renault Lodgy that was sold in India earlier.

2021 Dacia Jogger exterior, dimensions

The Dacia Jogger is based on Renault-Nissan's CMF-B architecture shared with the likes of the Renault Clio hatch and Nissan Juke SUV. The MPV incorporates many of the styling cues previewed by the recent Dacia Bigster concept and is closely related here to the new-gen Sandero hatchback. This is most noticeable with the Y-shape LED DRLs in the wide headlamps while the two-bar grille, as well as the large air dam and heavily sculpted bonnet, are all styling cues typical of this brand and consequently some of Renault's Indian offerings. The side profile is more focused on practicality with the flat door and the stepped roof that also opens up the glass area for the second and third rows. This section is 40 mm higher than  Similarly at the rear, there is a large, flat boot lid and tall, Volvo-like taillamps. The version seen here is the top-spec Jogger Extreme which adds SUV-inspired design cues like the heavy body cladding as well as the roof rails.

The Dacia Jogger sits on an extended version of the architecture that has increased length to 4,547mm while the wheelbase is 2,897mm, a 300mm increase over the Sandero. The width is 1,784mm while the height is 1,632mm. Ground clearance is rated at 200mm. The Jogger is Dacia's longest model.

2021 Dacia Jogger interior, features

The Jogger shares its dashboard with the Sandero, itself quite similar to something like the one in the Renault Kiger. A horizontal theme is seen here with a textile finish in the middle. The 8-inch floating touchscreen unit with wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay is again familiar Renault fare with circular climate control dials and angular air vents. The instrument cluster gets a 3.5-inch MID with the steering wheel being a four-spoke unit that is adjustable for rake and reach and with steering mounted controls. There is 24 litres of cabin storage. Notable features are cruise control, auto headlamps and wipers and heated seats.

The second row features fold-out tray tables as well as a 33:33:33 split for the bench. The third-row seats can be folded individually or removed, like in the Triber, allowing for 60 different combinations according to Dacia. Boot space is 708 litres for the 5 seater version, this drops to 565 litres with the 7 seater version with a folded last row. Active safety systems like emergency brake assist and blind-spot monitoring are available

2021 Dacia Jogger engines

At launch, the Dacia Jogger will be available with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol as seen in the Kiger. The version here is tuned up to offer 110PS and 200 Nm and will also get a LPG bi-fuel option. Later in 2023, a hybrid will be offered making it one of the most affordable 7-seater hybrid in Europe. This will pair a 1.6-litre petrol with a 1.2 kWh battery pack.

2021 Dacia Jogger India launch, price

There is no word yet on the Dacia Jogger coming to India. With Renault India's next launch expected to be the more upmarket Triber turbo, followed by a new Duster, the Jogger may not fit into the brand's plans in the country. But with the MOV segment heating up with a new Kia coming next year, Renault might consider the Jogger as a more cost-effective alternative to the Kia KY. Prices for the MPV should start at the equivalent of around Rs 15 lakh in Europe.
