Mini Paddy Hopkirk Edition launched in India at Rs 41.7 lakh, limited to 15 units online
Mini India has launched a limited-run version of the Mini Cooper S called Mini Paddy Hopkirk Edition, priced at Rs 41.70 lakh. Only 15 units of this three-door hatch will be made available, exclusively on the Mini website. This model is a tribute to rally driver Patrick "Paddy" Hopkirk and his No 37 red Mini Cooper S which won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964. Driven by a then 30 years old Hopkirk, this was the first of three wins that the original Mini would score at the Monet Carlo Rally. The win was instrumental in the small car achieving its reputation as being a car that was competitive and fun, setting the stage for the legacy we know it carries today.
This limited-run model carries numerous cues from the original car. These include the No 37 sticker on both sides of the car and the No 37 badges all around. Also seen here is Paddy Hopkirk's signature on a sticker at the rear, the C-pillars, door-sills and cockpit. The single white stripe over the car also bears this motif along with the iconic 33EJB registration number of the original car. The Paddy Hopkirk Edition is finished in Chilli Red and Aspen White dual-tone paint, again in homage of the original.
Other elements here are the black mirror housings, bonnet scoop, Mini logos, door handles and fuel-filler cap. The limited-run car sits on 16-inch black alloy wheels. Convenience feature are puddle lights, ambient lighting, panorama glass roof, keyless entry and go rear view camera, and John Cooper Works leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The Mini Paddy Hopkirk Edition is powered by the BMW 2.0-litre four-cylinder twin-scroll turbo-petrol making 192PS and 280 Nm. This motor pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, allowing for a 0 to 100 kmph time of 6.7s and a 235 kmph top-speed. There are three drive modes too- Green, Mid and Sport.
