Renault sells three lakh units of the Kwid hatchback in India
Renault India, today, announced crossing an important milestone with its entry-level offering, the Kwid. The company has sold more than three lakh units of the hatchback in the country. The company mentions that the Renault Kwid has been a volume earner for the brand and also one of the most successful Make in India stories as it was developed with over 98 per cent localisation. The official release states, "A game-changer for Renault, the Kwid is one of India's bestselling cars in the mini-car segment. With a rapidly increasing customer base, it has successfully carved a niche for itself and has been one of the most successful launches in the mini-car segment in recent times."
Recently, Renault updated the Kwid with the safety and convenience feature list, however, the prices were kept untouched. The updated feature list included ABS (Antilock braking system), EBD (Electronic brake distribution), driver airbag, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder and speed alert system which were made standard across all variants. The updated hatchback also got traffic assist in the AMT, a feature that allows the vehicle to crawl forward in slow moving traffic and also prevents it from rolling back on inclines. Mechanically, the 2019 Renault Kwid retains the two engine options, 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre three-cylinder engines that produce 54PS and 67PS respectively. Both the engines are available with an option between a five-speed manual or an AMT.

Also, with the electrified version of the Renault Kwid hatchback revealed at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, dubbed the City K-ZE, a new set of images show that the facelift of the Renault Kwid has been spotted in the international markets. The spotted hatchback sports the Venucia E30 badge which we believe is the name for the electric Renault Kwid in the Chinese market. The facelift is expected to be unveiled later this year and the car will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, Datsun redi-Go and the Datsun Go.
