Top-spec Maruti Suzuki Alto VXi+ launched in India at Rs 3.8 lakh
Maruti Suzuki has expanded the line-up of its entry-level Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 hatchback to include a new top variant called the Alto VXI+. As expected this sits above the Alto VXi and is highlighted by the addition of the new Smartplay Studio infotainment system. This 7-inch unit is the same as the one seen on other cars from the brand like the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and the new Wagon-R among others.
Notable features already available in the Alto VXi are the front power windows, central locking, keyless entry, two speakers and internally adjustable outer mirrors. The new infotainment adds Android Auto/Apple Carplay connectivity, an extensive trip computer and is also Bluetooth/USB compatible. The Alto also comes standard with all mandated safety tech like dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with EBD, reverse parking sensors, speed alert system and seat belt reminder for both driver and co-driver.
The Alto comes in six other variants other than the VXi trims. There are two engine options, both BSVI compliant. This is a petrol-powered 800cc three-cylinder unit with 48PS and 69 Nm. In the CNG version, the power output drops to 41PS. These engines are paired with a five-speed manual. The petrol version has an ARAI fuel efficiency figure of 22.05 kmpl, this number is 32.99 km/kg for the CNG version.
The Alto 800 received a facelift earlier this year that gave it a new grille, updated headlight design and newly designed bumper and side fenders. The hatchback comes in uptown red, superior white, silky silver, granite grey, mojito green, cerulian blue. Inside, there are silver-accented interiors and seats, a new dashboard design and updated instrument cluster. Lower versions get the Smartplay dock with the audio system.
Prices for the Alto 800 start at Rs 2.98 lakh for the base Standard trim, the new VXi trim costs Rs 3.8 lakh ex-showroom. This hatch competes with cars like the Datsun Redi-go and the Kwid with the 800cc motor.
