Upcoming 2021 BMW X3 facelift leaked ahead of reveal
A set of spy images have appeared on the internet revealing the mid-life update of this generation of the BMW X3. The X3 is expected to get this facelift later this year, along with updates to its all-electric version, the BMW iX3.
These photos suggest that the front of the BMW X3 is set to get a fully new face with the kidney grille grown larger and dropping into the bumper, much like in the X5 and X7. The headlamps have also been given a slimmer, more organic look and see the L-shaped LED highlights being added as on the likes of the 3 Series. The bumper has been slightly tweaked as well with smaller faux air intakes and a more condensed air dam. There also seems to be more pronounced bulges on the bonnet. At the rear the tailamps have been fully revised and now get an intricate 3D arrangement. More changes have been made to the bumper with large squarish exhaust tips, and a new faux diffuser. The profile ramins largely unchanged with only new alloy wheel designs being added.
The interiors of the 2021 BMW X3 facelift haven't been shown yet but expect to see the fully digital instrument cluster and the larger infotainment screen, both of 10.2-inch sizes. There should be more in the way of connected tech and amenities as well.
Engine options should remain unchanged as well, but should get 48V mild-hybrid assistance as standard across the range. The most popular options for India should be the 2.0-litre petrol with 258PS/400 Nm and the 2.0-litre diesel with 190PS/400 Nm, both of which pair with the eight-speed ZF auto. There should larger inline-6 options on offer as well as a plug-in hybrid option as well.
The BMW X3 facelift should make its global debut very soon and will compete with the recently updated Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC and the Volvo XC60. There is no word yet on an India launch, but expect to see it here by early next year. Prices of the current BMW X3 start from Rs 57.50 lakh, expect the new one to charge an additional Rs 1 to 2 lakh.
